are all mothers-in-law like this?

First, I was "poisoning" Jose by feeding him (you know, because he can't feed himself) leftover pasta. That can cause a bacterial infection, you know.

Then, my cleaning methods weren't good enough. Evidently, an old rag with water is better than using Clorox wipes.

Now, she's showing up at my house unannounced and coming in without even knocking on the door.

What is this? Is this a Honduran thing, or are they all like this?

At least she's not as bad as a lot of these stories! http://www.mycrazyin-laws.com/

It's a Latin thing in general! Hispanics tend to be machistas, specially the women, so they spoil their men rotten. You will never be good enough for their babies, so they go and make sure you're treating them right. Thank GOD mine is all the way in Mexico jajajajaja. I hate to tell you it will only get worse. Unless you find a polite way of saying or showing her to butt out. I bet Jose's in the middle, so dont frustrate him jajajaja talk to HER and tell her stuff like "I appreciate your help, but I do it this way in MY house". She might get pissed a little bit at first, but you need to show who's boss at your home, or she will be the boss jajajaja wait til you have babies! they'd breast feed them for you if they could. Other than that, you got a great mother in law though! So love her very much, and respect each other... remember some of them don't mean to pry, it just happens, specially since you're not from here they just want to teach you, and if you stop it early, you might be good friends, if you don't you'll hate each other FOREVER

Don't even get me going Hannah! You sound like a strong woman who will be able to "draw the line in the sand" early on. I am assuming she does not read your blog? Best of luck!

Hannah- I feel your pain! One time my husband was feeling sick to he took a nap, and by the time he woke up every one had eaten. Luckily I had set aside a plate of food for him- but he never asked for it. Then his mom was trying to figure why he was sick and asked if he had eaten, which the answer was no because he was sleeping during lunch. When she heard that she went on and on "of course we have food for you, your the man of the house, we would never not set aside food for you..." and so on and so on I rolled my eyes and just walked away...
